Market Hall
Brief
Replace an informal market shed with a permanent structure without displacing the trading patterns that already worked.
Problem
Traders needed continuous operation through construction, and any new roof had to outperform the improvised tarpaulin cover it replaced — more shade, more airflow, less noise in the rain.

Spatial Concept
The roof does the architectural work; the plan below stays as loose and adaptable as the market it houses.
Material Strategy
Precast folded-plate concrete roof panels, laterite masonry perimeter, no glazing — the hall is fully open-air at the edges.
Environmental Response
The folded roof section is engineered to accelerate hot air out through ridge openings, and its geometry sheds monsoon rain without gutters.
Outcome
Trader occupancy returned to full within a month of each phase opening — the loose plan meant no one had to change how they worked.
